God is not Limited by our Emotions

Far too often we confine God to the box of our minds. We allow our emotions to define who God is rather than going to His word and allowing Him to tell us who He is. We constantly chase after an emotional feeling rather than chasing after truth.

Don't get me wrong, God created our emotions and sometimes He does give us the blessing of feeling His presence, but our emotions are not truth. He is always present, but we don't always feel Him.

We cannot allow ourselves to limit a limitless God.

If you have ever attended a revival or church camp, maybe you have experienced great emotion during a worship song or bible study. In that moment, nothing else mattered except glorifying God, but then the revival ends and life happens and you lose that wonder. Just because you no longer feel that emotional high doesn't mean that God has changed. In fact, God never changes. He never wavers. Who He is when all you can do is worship Him, is who He is when you don't feel connected to Him.

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Hebrews 13:8

So how do we keep ourselves from limiting God to our own emotions? We know truth. We allow ourselves to be guided by His truth when we feel Him and when we don't. Below are 3 attributes of God's character. Sometimes we may feel these attributes, and other times we may have to choose to believe them because we can't feel them. Regardless, they are true.

1) God is always with His children

"Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, 'I will never leave you nor forsake you.'" Hebrews 13:5

"Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? If I ascend into heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there. If I take the wings of the morning, And dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, Even there Your hand shall lead me, And Your right hand shall hold me." Psalms 139:7-10

2) God is all powerful

"God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, Even though the earth be removed, And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea." Psalms 46:1-2

"Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might." Ephesians 6:10

"The Lord is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid?" Psalms 27:1

Notice almost every verse referring to God's power also refers to the ability of His people to be fearless.

3) God loves unconditionally

"But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8

"In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another." I John 4:9-11

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." John 3:16
